Nordic Summer Festival is over for another year, but based on the excitement and interest of all concerned it will most certainly not be the last time we arrange something like this.
Active youth from 8 different Save the Children Members Countries gathered for a week of learning, discussion, exchange and fun in Stockholm in August. In addition to participants from Countries with specific youth led organisations such as Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland, there also were youth representatives present from Romania, Iceland, Gambia and Russia. All in all there were 200 active and involved youth participants at this year’s Nordic Summer Festival.
Numerous items filled the agenda, such as Asylum Seeking children, violence against children and child trafficking; over the course of the week the participants had the opportunity to learn about these different themes and ways to tackle them.
However there were two issues that really engaged the participants, how children and young people can become actively involved in the Save the Children Alliance and actively involved in the Rewrite the Future. Workshops and lectures were held on these themes and participants had the opportunity to generate ideas for the Rewrite the Future campaign.
At the end of the week there are now 200 youths ready, willing and able to work hard and to make a positive change for childrens rights all over the world.
