Liberia: Pricilla
Madeleine, 14, DJing in 'studio one' at our Children's Club radio station at Conneh Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The broadcast reaches to 12,000 people. Before coming to the camp, she witnessed gang rape and feared for her life during the on-going conflict in Liberia. "My life changed when I came to the club," says Madeline, "because I have plenty of friends, and I'm learning something. I'm learning how to broadcast, how to carry awareness of AIDS, trauma, to distribute condoms, of teenage pregnancy, against hard punishment, all that sort of thing. I want to be a medical doctor, because I want to help to save lives." |
