Doves of Peace to Rewrite the Future

This year, Save the Children is working towards creating a "flock" of brightly-coloured doves for peace, made by children from around the world. 

Save the Children hopes to collect the peace doves and present them in a unique format at the annual Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo, Norway in December, 2008.

To find out how you can engage children on the important issue of peace and education, and to let us know you would like to contribute doves to our "flock", please send us an email! 

We've already received doves which were created at a drawing workshop held in the UK in April 2008, as part of a national campaign called 'The Big Draw'  (see photo to left). Save the Children in the UK asked children as far as Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire and Pakistan to draw what they liked best about school. From over a thousand submissions, thirteen winners were selected. Some of the children travelled to the UK for the art workshop and to visit the House of Commons as part of the Global Campaign for Education's Week of Action.  Read more
