In Guatemala, a panel event was organised to spark the debate, featuring high-profile representatives from national and international organisations working on education and peace. Those involved in the debate included Rigoberta Menchú, former Nobel Peace Prize winner, Viceminister of Bilingual and Intercultural Education, Virginia Tacám, Secretary of Peace and Human Rights, Olando Blanco, signatory to the Guatemalan Peace Accords, Raquel Zelaya and the Guatemalan First Lady.
