The Global Debate: USA and Canada

 The Launch: April 3rd

 Save the Children members from USA and Canada hosted a very successful roundtable discussion "Where Peace Begins: Education as a building block to peace" with a high level of engagement by attendees, including representatives from Norway and Qatar, Benin, Tanzania, Sweden, the Netherlands, Brazil, Angola, United States, Canada, Japan, Sri Lanka, as well as UN agencies, INGOs and other interested parties. The conversation was initiated with remarks by a distinguished panel of Alan Court (formally with UNICEF), Michael Gaoutette of DPKO and the very talented moderator, Allan Rock, fomer peace negotiator. The Ambassadors of Norway and Qatar also spoke. The output was a set of concrete recommendations on how to build awareness on the interdependence between education and peace at the UN and beyond.
