What does the Save the Children Europe Group do?

 

Current activities include:

  • ensuring children’s rights are a political priority for the new European Commission and Parliament and for the EU Presidency
  • ensuring that the references in the EU Constitution on children’s rights (once adopted) are implemented
  • combating the sexual abuse and exploitation of children by working together to exchange best practice on prevention methods and victim assistance
  • assisting separated children who arrive in or cross Europe by influencing the debates on a common  asylum policy at European level
  • working with other Save the Children organisations to monitor and influence EU policies on children and online pornography and making proposals promoting children's rights
  • ensuring that children’s rights are taken into account in all aspects of the EU’s development and humanitarian aid work
  • bringing attention to the issue of children and armed conflict in all aspects of the EU’s external policies and action
