Western Australia

  • On April 7 the University of Western Australia became the first organisation in Western Australia to receive the Save the Children White Flame award for its contribution to children over nearly 100 years.  The Governor of Western Australia, Dr Ken Michael, presented the award to UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Robson at Government House.  Professor Robson said the award acknowledged the University’s commitment to serving the community.

South Australia

  • First Mobile Play Bus Group will commence on July 31st in the Salisbury District with Old McDonald Nursery Farm visiting!
  • SA now has three UN Global Peace Schools with another five schools working towards becoming UN Global Peace Schools in the near future!
  • In term 2 we have three Future Parents Programs running in Adelaide. We have the privilege of working with a group of young Sudanese mothers and other CALD communities.
  • Currently we have 35 Health, Nutrition & Lifeskills Programs across metropolitan and regional areas of SA which are supported by Foodbank SA and Toll Freight! We have had the pleasure and excitement of visiting some of the regional programs in progress!!
  • Speaking Out continues to reach many children and communities across metropolitan Adelaide about SCA’s Child Rights achievements
  • First Speak Out Youth Forum will now be held on the 16th of June at Seaton High School involving schools in the western suburbs. Enriching the community with the voice of young people!
  • Future Mentoring Pathways Program in Ceduna has many exciting projects in the development stages. Harmony Day, which depicts the essence of SCA’s mission, was recently celebrated with the Ceduna community. 
  • All 15 Save the Children Op Shops in Adelaide are staffed by over 500 dedicated Volunteers. All proceeds from the sale of goods within the stores go directly to the children, here in South Australia, nationally and overseas.  Click here to see the locations of our op shops.

  • Kleen n Bright shine on the golf course! Nine thirty on a recent misty morning saw 22 teams gather on their designated greens at the Tasmania Golf Club ready for the inaugural Save the Children Corporate Golf Challenge.  Read the full story.
