Operation Newstart

Save the Children Australia provides funding support for Operation Newstart in Victoria, a program jointly run by Victoria Police and the Department of Education.

Operation Newstart is open to students aged 14-18 years who are experiencing serious difficulties at school, particularly behavioural problems. The program runs for eight weeks and engages students in a challenging outdoor activity program which is complemented by vocational education. It aims to build self-esteem and life skills, with a view to helping the students access vocational links into TAFE and industry.
