Save the Children in partnership with Church based organizations Mt Sion Centre for the Blind and Callan Services supported screening, in schools and villages in Goroka and other Eastern Highlands districts, of about 5,000 children for any physical or mental disabilities and provided consultations and referrals.
In addition, we have worked with the parents and communities to educate them on how to better care for children with disabilities, and in partnership with Callan Services in East Sepik province, we supported specialist training on screening for ear and eye defects, referrals and awareness programs to promote and provide health care services to affected children in schools and villages.
Save the Children’s work positively impacts the lives of children with disabilities.
