HIV and AIDS Project

Vanuatu reported its first HIV and AIDS case in 2002. Since then, three cases have been reported including one reported death.

This project aims to raise HIV/AIDS awareness and promotion for access to counselling and testing services in Vila and Santo, and is funded by AusAID through the Pacific Regional HIV/AIDS program.

This project uses education and awareness to encourage communities to support people with HIV and AIDS, and to assist children who have lost relatives to the disease.

Advocacy and awareness sessions are held, education materials are developed and we are promoting and supporting voluntary and confidential counselling and testing for the community.

Campaigns to raise awareness are also being conducted by civil society groups within communities.
