A Gala event on June 13, entitled "Celebrating Ontario's Environmental Heritage" featured an illustrated talk by local environmentalist, photographer and author Peter Kelly, a performance by the Spirit Walk artists, and music by local songwriter and activist James Gordon. In response to the devastation caused by the recent cyclone in Myanmar/Burma, the Ontario Historical Society, along with the Guelph Historical Society, Guelph Civic Museums and the History Department at the University of Guelph, generously donated 50 percent of profits from the event to Save the Children Canada’s Myanmar/Burma disaster relief fund.

A strawberry social was held on the afternoon of May 31, 2008 at Broadway United Church in Regina, SK, to help raise funds for Save the Children's emergency response for the children of Myanmar.

On May 30-31, 2008 Saskatoon volunteers ran a garage sale that raised $2,355! $2000.00 was dedicated to Save the Children's Myanmar emergency relief effort.

An evening of information, inspiration and hope was held on May 10. An art exhibition "The Beauty of Africa", African and jazz music performances, wine & appetizers, and a silent auction were featured. Sponsored by Hand in Hand for Peace, in partnership with Save the Children and War Child, this event raised awareness and support for children and women in Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. Raising funds and awareness for Save the Children Canada, Toronto Branch Volunteers led a community-wide tagging event on May 10th at 3 retail locations across Toronto. 10 volunteers raised $850.00.

Sunday May 4, 2008 - "Hats off to Spring" Tea
A Hats Off to Spring Tea was hugely successful on May 4 in Windsor, Ontario. Save the Children Canada's branch volunteers offered an afternoon of tea, food and fun. Proceeds supported Save the Children Canada.

42 volunteers (adults and students) canvassed outside for 2-hour shifts from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on the streets and at malls around the city. In addition, about 30 volunteers helped with phoning, driving and counting money. The total amount collected was $3,301!

February 29, 2008 - The CMP Canadian Mortgage Awards
The CMP Canadian Mortgage Awards, a gala event at the Liberty Grand Hotel in Toronto, raised funds for Save the Children Canada through its silent auction.
This annual black-tie gala welcomes 500 mortgage industry professionals who gather to praise the achievements of their peers and industry leaders. David Morley, President and CEO of Save the Children Canada, spoke at the event.

AXIS Pharmacy Kilimanjaro Challenge 2007 Successfully Summits
AXIS Pharmacy has been supporting Save the Children Canada for the past several years including fundraising for the 2004 Tsunami, the Java Earthquake and Rewrite the Future campaign. Their fundraising venture of a hike up Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania was tremendously successful. 30 out of the 37 climbers reached the summit in early January. Their efforts raised over $150,000 for Save the Children Canada's HIV/AIDS programs in Kenya.

New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball Raising Funds in Ottawa
