Although Canada was one of the first countries to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in 1991, there is still much to be done to ensure child rights are made a reality in Canada. Save the Children Canada's programs in Canada have historically focused on ensuring that the well-being of Canadian children is considered in the development of new provincial and federal policies. Save the Children has encouraged the participation of children in this process. We have endeavoured to protect the most vulnerable and excluded of our society, with a focus on assisting children and their families in rural communities.
In 2007, our Canadian development programs have concluded. However, we will continue to work with civil society and government organizations so that we may all be more accountable to rights holders (children).
