Save the Children Norway in Ethiopia

Save the Children Norway was established in 1946 as a voluntary, humanitarian membership organization which observes neutrality in matters of politics and religion.

Save the Children Norway started operation in Ethiopia in 1969. Until end of 1995, we implemented a range of child focused development projects in rural and urban Ethiopia by our own employees. Making a strategic shift in 1996, we embarked on implementing projects in partnership with NGOs and government organizations.

Currently, we are supporting 28 partners (14 government and 14 NGOs) which are implementing a total of 41 projects in various parts of the country including: Addis Ababa, Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Somali, and Southern Nations and Nationalities and Peoples Regions. Since 1996, education has been our major area of intervention. Education accounts for over 55% of our annual budget.
