Head of International Programs Finance (maternity cover initially for 12 months)

By mid-2013 most of our international programmes will be delivered through a merged operation with 14 000 staff, managed through seven regional hubs and reporting to a relatively small, central office. The role

 

As a key member of the financial team, you will: * lead (with the Director of Financial Management) in all matters of international programs finance for development and humanitarian responses; both in terms of developing processes, and delivering plans via these processes * build the capacity of country office finance teams through provision of clear processes, toolkits and training materials to enable them to support beneficiaries, members and donors * lead on management reporting of country office performance to SCI senior management, members and SCI board * support and challenge the regional office finance teams

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications and experience

* finance professional with significant experience of country finance within a complex INGO * experience of developing and building capacity in a finance function * highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching * highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures * strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets * ability to present complex financial information in a succinct and compelling manner * experience of exposure to the non-for-profit sector and/or developing countries * experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in * highest standards of ethics and integrity * willingness to undertake travel to country and regional offices for training, support and capacity-building purposes * ability to speak other languages such as French and Spanish would be preferable * commitment to Save the Children values
