Five partners of Save the Children Norway are working to fight the economic exploitation of working children. They are in involved in
The programme mix constitutes of policy advocacy, changing the belief and attitudes of the families and communities and increasing access of children to basic services such as health and education. Two partners are working in Kathmandu valley for policy advocacy and practical actions in favour of vulnerable children. Three partners are working outside the valley in supporting children and their families to organise and empower them by providing information and increasing access to basic services. Partners also provide integrated services in contact centers like shelter, food, medical, legal and educational support to children at risk.
Geographically the work spreads to almost 25 districts covering all 5 development regions of the country and involves different types of working children such as street hawkers, vendors, domestic workers, auto rickshaw and three wheeler assistants, beggars, scrap collectors, weavers. Around 7,000 working children will get direct benefits from the programmes and around 20,000 children associated with 350 forums will get indirect benefits.
Save the Children Norway provides technical support in strengthening the capacities of partners facilitating working children's clubs and forums. They are also provided support in building working children’s linkages and networks with local and national level actors. The partners work as focal institutions in organising training, discussions and exposure to ensure community ownership and concerned stakeholders' involvement in the issues.
