Millions of children at risk in Pakistan's flood zone
Save the Children Zealand is receiving an extraordinary outpouring of generosity from New Zealanders who have so far donated $281,771.45 to help the children and families affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan.
“Children are particularly vulnerable in any emergency and many of these children would have been chronically under nourished even before the floods came so it’s really important we reach them and the access is difficult," says Jasmine Whitbread, global CEO of Save the Children currently visiting New Zealand.
Save the Children is using helicopters, donkeys, boats, often trekking by foot night and day to bring help to the most isolated communities. New Zealanders are helping fund medicines, shelter, and drinking water to children and families cut off by the floodwaters. "People are giving at the same rate as they gave for example to the Haiti emergency so we’re very encouraged by that...and what we’re seeing here in New Zealand is that many people are giving more than once."
We’ve increased our emergency appeal target to $400,000 as the situation in Pakistan worsens for children and families affected by the record flooding. Children and families are in desperate need of our support - we need your help to raise another $118,228.55 Donate today. Please call 0800 167 168.
