Ratification of the Convention in Romania

Romania was one of the first states to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child , in the next after its adoption by the United Nations, through Law no. 18/September 28th 1990. After having signed the Convention, Romania’s goal was to improve the children’s situation, to ensure the best conditions for them to grow up healthy, to have access to quality education and to participate actively in the life of the community. Developing national programs for children and using the existing resources to the maximum possible level are necessary measures so that respecting child rights may become reality.
