At Save the Children Swaziland we continually make sure that our work is child focused and child centred. Our belief is that we must position ourselves in our country as the leading child rights based organisation, advocating and ensuring that the concept of child rights is recognised and respected.

At the heart of our work is ensuring that children from all sectors of our society are given the opportunity to enjoy their childhood as children. The socio-economic dispensation of our country has devastating effects on our children. Hence we are seeing a large increase in unemployment rendering many parents financially incapable of supporting their families.

The HIV/AIDS epidemic is certainly undermining a lot of achievements made by the country over the past years. As a result we are seeing an increase in the number of children seeking assistance for basic survival needs ie: food, shelter, clothing and school fees because either one or both parents have died. The poverty level particularly in the rural areas is making children even more vulnerable and undermines their right to a secure childhood development.
