Save the Children Statement on Pope Francis Remarks

Friday 6 February 2015

Save the Children Statement:

"Pope Francis has been a powerful global voice upholding the dignity of migrants and people living in poverty. His comments on smacking are unfortunate. Corporal punishment of children is an indignity that often causes lasting physical and emotional harm, and can lead to escalating violence. We urge the Pope to add his voice to those calling for an end to all corporal punishment, both in homes and schools."
