Aisha* is 2 years old and extreme drought in Kenya has killed her family's livestock causing a devastating shortage of food for the whole family. “When my daughter was sick, I thought she would die. I was terrified to see her in such a situation”, Aisha's mum said when she brought her to the Save the Children - supported hospital.
Aisha was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition. Her body was starting to shut down when she was given nutrient-packed food paste, which quickly helped her regain strength and within just days of starting treatment, she was full of energy and took her first steps.
