Education under threat as Al Khan Al Ahmar School set to be destroyed in the West Bank

July 4 – More than 170 children in the Khan Al Ahmar community in the West Bank are expecting to see their school demolishedimminently after bulldozers moved into the village today, sparking protests in which more than 30 people were reportedly injured.

Yemen: Save the Children statement on UN secretary-general’s children & armed conflict report

Save the Children is disappointed that the Saudi- and Emirati-led Coalition fighting in Yemen has been exonerated for attacks on schools and hospitals in this year’s Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC) Report by the UN Secretary-General. This is despite at least 19 verified aerial attacks on schools and five verified attacks on hospitals/health centres attributed to the Coalition in 2017.

Two girls orphaned and badly injured by shrapnel following an airstrike near Hodeidah

 
 
Save the Children has begun assisting two sisters, Shadia*, 2 and Wafa*, 6, who have been orphaned and badly injured following an airstrike that hit near their parents' vehicle, close to the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah.

Hodeidah Port Attack in Yemen

Tamer Kirolos, Yemen Country Director, Save the Children, says:

An estimated 300,000 children stuck in Hodeidah city are risk of being killed or maimed by the fighting. Families and children could be caught in the crossfire, unable to leave but in grave danger from bombs and bullets if they stay, trapped beyond the reach of humanitarian aid or medical care.
