Save the Children and IKEA/IKEA Foundation have worked together since 1994 to help realise children's rights to a healthy and secure childhood, which includes a quality education. By listening to and learning from children, we develop long-term projects that empower communities to create a better everyday life for children. The shared values of IKEA/IKEA Foundation and Save the Children create a good foundation for a long-term strategic partnership.The global partnership aims to promote activities that drive sustainable business operations across the entire value chain, and endeavours to maximise both business value and social impact.

Together with the IKEA Foundation, Save the Children is:

Save the Children helped create IKEA's code of conduct 'The IKEA way to prevent child labour' (IWAY). The code, which is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, was launched in 2000, and is still used today.

IKEA and Save the Children have also been engaged in setting international standards for corporate social responsibilities for children through the UN Global Compact Initiative. IKEA acted as part of the reference group in the development of the Children's Rights and Business Principles launched by the UN Global Compact, UNICEF and Save the Children in 2012.
