GAZA: CRISIS IS NOT OVER

After more than two years of relentless war in Gaza, the current pause in hostilities offers hope on the horizon for children and families. But the crisis is far from over.

The scale of devastation in Gaza is extraordinary. Over 80% of buildings have been destroyed. Children are still battling hunger, malnutrition and disease. Famine was declared in August in parts of Gaza. Winter has arrived, leaving families without safe shelter, warm clothes or sanitation.

Save the Children has been working around the clock to respond to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza since the war began. We are scaling up our response to ensure that we can deliver life-saving supplies and treatment to children who desperately need it.

Children in Gaza need us now more than ever. Please support our work by donating today. Whatever you can give will make a real difference.

YOUR $120 GIFT could provide winter kits to help keep children warm this winter.

One child’s message in a “wishing cloud” reads:

“I wish I was in heaven where my mother is — in heaven there is love, there is food and water.”

Please donate now to children in Gaza, the West Bank and around the world, where the needs are most urgent.

HOW WE ARE HELPING

Save the Children has over 200 staff and 25 local partners in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza and the West Bank. Since the start of the war, we’ve helped over 1.6 million people (almost 812,000 children) in Gaza and 118,000 people (almost 62,000 children) in the West Bank where violence has also escalated.

Right now, we are:

  • Rapidly expanding our cash delivery. As one of the largest cash providers in Gaza, we are set up to provide up to $5 million a week to families.

  • Continuing to deliver lifesaving health, nutrition, child protection, education, water and sanitation, and livelihoods support to families in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis.

  • Preparing to distribute essential items, like winter clothes and hygiene kits, to families as supplies arrive across the border.

LONGER-TERM RESPONSE PLAN

Over the coming weeks and months, we will monitor population movements in Gaza and expand our services wherever communities need it most. This will include:

WATER, SANITATION & HYGIENE

  • Expand water delivery to 45 new sites, and continue providing water at 65 sites.

  • Distribute around 11,000 new hygiene kits, including menstrual hygiene products.

  • Raise awareness of positive hygiene practices in collaboration with partners.

CASH, FOOD & LIVELIHOODS

  • Provide more cash transfers to families alongside holistic support, such as referring them for additional support (nutrition, protection, etc.) where needed.

  • Provide small business with cash grants and support local agricultural production to boost food security and the local economy.

CHILD PROTECTION

  • Set up 10 new child friendly spaces and continue running 8 spaces, where children can play and receive mental health and psychosocial support .

  • Expand case management services, providing specialized support for children with complex needs.

  • Distribute warm clothes and other essentials to help families through the winter.

HEALTH & NUTRITION

  • Continue delivering health and nutrition services in two primary health clinics.

  • Set up 10 new mother baby areas and continue running 10 areas, offering malnutrition treatment and recovery support.
