Children in Lebanon have been killed, injured, uprooted from their homes, cut off from food, healthcare and school and exposed to hugely traumatic events. The ceasefire needs to be sustained indefinitely to end this suffering for children.
Nearly 380,000 children in Lebanon are expected to face crisis-level hunger or worse in the coming months.
Families who were already struggling to survive are now being pushed even deeper into crisis by conflict, mass displacement and soaring food prices. Over one million people have been internally displaced, livelihoods have been disrupted, and many parents can no longer afford food, medicine or other basic essentials for their children.
Many children are surviving on just one meal a day. They are living in overcrowded shelters after fleeing airstrikes and violence.

WHAT ARE WE DOING IN LEBANON TO SUPPORT CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES?
Save the Children has been working in Lebanon since 1953, supporting children and families affected by conflict, displacement and economic hardship.
Since day 1 of the renewed escalations in March 2026, our teams have been delivering life-saving support to displaced families and children across Lebanon.
With the support of donors like you, we are:
- Distributing ready-to-eat food parcels to families in collective shelters.
- Screening children for malnutrition and referring identified cases to primary healthcare centres.
- Providing potable water, mattresses, blankets, pillows, hygiene kits and menstrual hygiene materials to affected families.
- Supporting children with psychosocial activities that help restore a sense of routine and emotional safety during displacement.
- Helping families access Child Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services in collective shelters.
- Supporting learning continuity activities to help children continue learning and maintain a sense of normalcy during the crisis.
- Providing emergency cash assistance to help displaced families meet urgent needs such as food, healthcare and other essential expenses.
Between March and April 2026 alone, Save the Children supported:
- 42,844 people with water, sanitation and hygiene support.
- 17,767 people with safe shelter and essential relief items.
- 13,796 people with food security support.
- 4,221 children with child protection and mental health support.

A temporary pause is not enough to protect children or enable meaningful recovery. A definitive and permanent ceasefire is essential.
