Child rights governance remains at the core of our work, tackling the fundamental, systemic issues that prevent children from realizing their rights. We establish conditions that progress children’s rights by fostering inclusive and responsive governance and championing the allocation and use of public funds. We support the next generation of leaders by empowering children to monitor and demand their rights.

Our approach to good governance creates spaces through child-friendly local systems and child-centered social accountability. We also amplify their voices to secure investment in children by involving them in accountable budgeting processes and advocating for a national budget that best responds to their needs. In collaboration with the National Children’s Task Force (NCTF), we have been building a pool of youth leaders advancing children’s rights at the local level. 

Platforms for Participation

Our approach is centered on children’s participation and being heard on matters that impact them. We support the NCTF in promoting self-expression and placing them at the center of local and national dialogues. Supporting their engagement across platforms, the task force collaborates with children, youth, parents, civil society organizations, district authorities, local governments, and policymakers to promote children's rights at the district level. We also build connections at the local level with stakeholders, including teachers, journalists, parents, community leaders, elected representatives, youth, social workers, and government officials, to promote consistent participation in activities that foster children's rights.
 

Be Vocal, Start Local

We place children’s voices in decision-making and influence policy so their perspectives hold power. Our support in generating data-driven solutions enables them to hold local authorities accountable for existing laws and government plans related to children’s welfare. It engages stakeholders to ensure that children remain a priority. We strengthen NTCF members’ capacity to advocate for children’s rights in government meetings and committees, enabling them to lobby decision-makers, inform processes, and influence policies they believe in. 

It’s a Systems Approach

We engage in modifying existing systems that put children’s welfare first, such as school committees, to prevent child marriage. Engagement is a key driver of systemic change. With this in mind, we promote NCTF's engagement with marginalized groups, including adults and children, to foster lasting community change. The task force now conducts monitoring visits to assess children’s rights at the union level, ensuring that essential services are activated and implemented.
