UKRAINE CRISIS

On July 8, 2024, at least 7 children were injured in the appalling attack affecting a children's hospital in Kyiv. Bloodied cribs and toys were seen in the wards. The horror of this shows the profound suffering inflicted upon children. All children in Ukraine are now in grave danger of physical harm and severe emotional distress. Children have already lived through conflict, enduring violence, shelling, and being displaced from their homes.

MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER

As the war in Ukraine enters its third year, the conflict lines continue to stretch for thousands of kilometres and the continuous changes in the conflict patterns, most recently with attacks on infrastructure across the country, has led to a climate of uncertainty.

Since 24th February 2022, more than 23,000 civilian casualties have been verified by the UN, including more than 8,570 civilians who have been killed. Of those, more than 1,500 children have been injured or killed.

The war in Ukraine is a war on children. But they are absent from the narrative. Children are the future of Ukraine, but their present, development and futures are severely hampered by ongoing violations, their rights are being violated on a daily basis and they are at serious risk of abuse, neglect and of grave violations of their rights. Therefore, we are working hard to help make sure that children continue to have access to education and safe spaces to learn, play and grow. Will you help us by making a donation to save the lives of children in crisis?

HOW YOUR DONATION CAN HELP

The outlook for children in 2024 is stark. Today, 1 in 6 children - more than 450 million children worldwide - are living in war zones the world has all but forgotten in places like Syria, Yemen and Myanmar. This is the highest number in more than 20 years.

Right now, the world is witnessing a global hunger crisis on a scale we've never seen before. Children in the Sahel, Madagascar and Malawi are so hungry they cannot concentrate in school. No child deserves to be hungry.

In times of humanitarian crises, when children are at their most vulnerable, Save the Children is there. What we do?

1. Deliver winter kits and hygiene kits.

2. Give cash grants to families so they can meet basic needs such as food, rent and medicines.

3. Provide access to safe, inclusive education.

4. Support children to overcome the mental and psychological impact of the conflict.

5. Providing basic non-food items and outreach services for refugees arriving to neighbouring countries.

Please give to Save the Children now to allow us to respond wherever the need is greatest to reach children quickly with the essentials they need to survive.
