Cash Voucher Assistance
Save the Children’s Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) response is guided by market functionality, feasibility, and risk assessments to identify appropriate delivery modalities, considering operational context, service provider capacity, people’s preferences, and safety conditions. Coordination with partners ensures complementarity, avoids duplication, and maximises reach to vulnerable households.
We deliver targeted cash-based and agricultural support to address the priority needs of vulnerable households, including:
Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA): Flexible cash support to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, healthcare, and education.
Cash for Food: Restricted cash aligned with the Minimum Expenditure Basket to improve access to nutritious food.
Cash for Work: Short-term income through labour-based activities supporting community priorities.
Cash Grants for Toolkits: Support for income-generating activities through grants for tools and equipment.
Agricultural Inputs and Tools: Provision of seeds and tools to strengthen food security and livelihoods.
After devastating earthquakes destroyed homes and buildings in the Herat region of Afghanistan, Save the Children has been responding by giving multi purpose cash assistance to families. The cash support allows families to purchase much needed supplies. In this region families have been displaced from their homes and are now staying in makeshift shelters and tents, while battling cold weather and strong winds. Atabek Khadim / Save the Children
