Mini Child-Friendly Space Supports Children’s Wellbeing in Jawzjan Province

14 May 2026 Global

To support children accompanying their families to health facilities, Save the Children established a Mini Child‑Friendly Space (Mini CFS) in the Therapeutic Feeding Unit in Jawzjan, with support from Save the Children Italy.

Children accompanying their parents to health facilities in remote areas often face health risks and exposure to harsh weather conditions while waiting in crowded clinic environments. These challenges can affect their wellbeing, particularly during medical consultations and observation periods.

To address these risks, Save the Children has established a Mini Child-Friendly Space (Mini CFS) in the Therapeutic Feeding Unit (TFU) in Jawzjan. This initiative has been implemented with the support of Save the Children Italy. It provides a safe and supportive environment for children while their parents access healthcare services.

The Mini CFS support children well-being by offering children a dedicated space where they can play, learn, and engage in structured activities under the supervision of a facilitator. It also protects them from exposure to extreme weather conditions and overcrowded clinic areas, contributing to a safer and more child-centred healthcare experience.

Beyond immediate protection, the Mini CFS promotes children’s social and emotional wellbeing and strengthens their resilience. Through learning activities, creative self-expression, and positive peer interaction, children are supported in a calm and engaging environment while accompanying their families to the clinic.
