How to help children in emergencies
Use these tips from Save the Children’s emergency response experts to help support children before, during and even after an emergency is over.
There’s no denying it. Children are living through unimaginable, turbulent times.
Wars are tearing families apart, climate disasters are destroying homes, and millions of children are caught in the chaos — with no safe place to turn.
Right now, over 473 million children are living in conflict zones and one billion children are at extreme risk from climate change.
But it’s not only the children directly affected. Even those living far from crisis zones are feeling the weight of the world. Overexposure to distressing news, social media, and adult anxiety can leave them overwhelmed — triggering stress, fear, and a sense that the world isn’t safe.
But there is something we can all do.
At Save the Children, we’ve created a series of guides to help adults support children during emergencies — whether those emergencies are outside their windows or on their screens. You can download these guides for free below.
