RAMALLAH, 30 June 2026 – Israeli forces have reportedly killed seven Palestinian children in Gaza and the West Bank in the week since a UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israeli authorities and security forces have been deliberately targeting Palestinian children.
Six Palestinian children were killed by Israeli forces' airstrikes and shelling in Gaza, including a one-year-old girl killed by an Israeli airstrike on a displacement camp south of Gaza on Monday. In addition, a 15-year-old boy in the West Bank was shot in the head and chest by Israeli forces during a raid in the city of Al-Bireh.
The UN Commission of Inquiry report, published on 23 June, concluded that Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip and war crimes in the West Bank.
Save the Children’s Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe, Ahmad Alhendawi, said:
“One week after the UN concluded that Israeli forces were systematically targeting Palestinian children, we continue to see appalling attacks on Palestinian children, with seven children killed by Israeli forces in the past week.
“For how long must children bear the burden of a war and occupation they play no part in? How many more children must be killed, detained or injured before the world takes urgent action to intervene to protect children?
“Our shared humanity depends on us saving the future of Palestinian children. This is the least that we owe them. UN Member States must not accept a reality where a child a day is killed. All Member States have binding legal obligations to prevent and immediately stop grave violations being committed against children and hold perpetrators accountable.”
