More than 250 children in Gaza shot with live ammunition as protests escalate

Hundreds of children, some as young as eight years old, have been shot by live ammunition in the Gaza protests, an analysis by Save the Children has shown.

Out of more than 500 detailed injuries in children, at least 250 (some 50 percent) were hit with live bullets, according to data collected by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, which is also being used by the United Nations in its reporting.

Aid agencies alarmed by attacks against Palestinian educational facilities ahead of the new school year

This week, two educational facilities have been targeted by Israeli authorities, taking the total up to three in the last fortnight alone. On the day before the start of the new school year, the Israeli Civil Administration (ICA)[1] entered the community of Jubbet adh-Dhib and dismantled the elementary school in the final stages of construction.

Worsening child protection crisis plaguing the occupied Palestinian territory

The reality for children living in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt)is deteriorating almost every day. There are now more than two million Palestinian children who face increasing violations of their rights: displacement and forcible transfer, the demolition and destruction of homes and schools, arbitrary arrest and detention, harassment at checkpoints, and frequent violence and intimidation when they are simply trying to reach school or attend class.
