LONDON/GENEVA, 7 July 2025 – Save the Children has launched its third annual Global Media Awards, honouring exceptional journalism that champions the rights of children worldwide.

Save the Children’s Global Media Awards celebrates professional journalists from around the world whose storytelling has played a pivotal role in uncovering and highlighting critical issues affecting children, while amplifying their voices and advocating for their rights.

“Powerful journalism has the potential to drive positive change for children: from amplifying children's voices and shining a light on issues that might otherwise go unseen, to influencing laws and holding perpetrators to account. These awards celebrate the courage and commitment of journalists who go where others don't to report on the most pressing issues affecting children today,” said Belinda Goldsmith, head of the Global Media Unit at Save the Children.

The competition features four distinct categories:
•    Written News (print and online)
•    Broadcast
•    Radio/Podcast
•    Photography

Eligible entries must have been published or broadcast for the first time between 2 July 2025 and 1 July 2026. Submissions will close on 9 August 2026 at 11:59 PM BST.

An independent jury of judges will review the shortlisted submissions to decide the winners.

Entries can now be submitted at: savemediaawards.com
The winners of the Save the Children Global Media Awards 2026 will be announced on 20 November, World Children’s Day.

Save the Children held its inaugural Global Media Awards in 2024 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the League of Nations’ adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child – a milestone achievement spearheaded by Save the Children's founder, Eglantyne Jebb.
