THE CONFLICT IN SYRIA HAS ALREADY CLAIMED TOO MANY CHILDREN'S LIVES.

Thirteen years of destructive conflict in Syria has hit those who are least responsible the hardest – the nation’s children. Help protect children living through conflict.

The latest escalation of hostilities in Syria is yet another blow to children who have grown up knowing nothing but conflict and displacement. A year after the devastating earthquakes, children across northern Syria are once again facing severe levels of violence.

Since the earthquakes that hit the Türkiye-Syria border, the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance has increased to 16.7 million people, of which 45% are children - the highest number since the beginning of the crisis 13 years ago.

The lives of a generation of young people have been devastated by conflict,
economic crisis and the lasting impacts of the earthquake.
Many have missed years of education. An estimated 2 million children are out of school and another 1.6 million children are at risk of dropping out.

Children need your support more than ever. Donate to protect children living in crises like Syria.

Our Response.

Save the Children has been working in Syria for 13 years. We have been there for children throughout the conflict and the earthquakes and continue to support Syrian refugees around the world.

Most Syrian families had time to pack their clothes, their phone, a favourite toy when forced to flee. But they couldn’t pack security, income, a safe place to play or learn, someone to fight for their rights. That is why Save the Children is there: to provide what families from Syria could not fit in a bag.

Save the Children has supported 7.2 million people including 4.2 million children. With your support, we can help millions of children in their darkest hour.  We support rapid-onset emergencies such as the earthquakes or disease outbreaks, providing health, water sanitation and hygiene services, food and nutrition support.

We provide critical psychosocial support for children impacted by the conflict and the earthquakes. We also work to reunite children with their loved ones. Learn more about how we support the well-being of children living in conflict.

We also support clinics, mother-baby areas, seven vaccination centres, and over 90 education facilities, including schools, learning tents and vocational training schools to make sure that all children at all levels can continue to learn.

When the crisis escalates in the form of violence or displacement, Save the Children provides families with cash support, food and kits containing blankets, solar-powered lamps, and kitchen utensils.

MARAH'S* STORY.

Marah is 11 years old and has only ever known conflict and displacement.

Marah*, was displaced from her hometown first by conflict and then by the earthquakes that hit the region. She is currently residing in a camp in the northwest Syrian countryside.

The conflict and the earthquakes have drastically impacted Marah’s life as it has affected her ability to go to school, which upset her a lot given she is passionate about her education.

Save the Children along with partner organisation Bonyan and other NGOs worked to import and repurpose tents that were once used for administrative purposes into tents that could be used to be used to provide education facilities to children like Marah in the camp.

Children like Marah need help. With your support, we can prepare better, respond faster, and protect longer, so that we’re there to help children when they need it most. Your donation could help meet the immediate needs of children when disaster strikes. Donate now to provide critical support to children living in conflict.
