Reactive Statement on Approval of Somalia’s National Independent Human Rights Commission
MOGADISHU (October 14, 2025) — Save the Children welcomes the approval of the National Independent Human Rights Commission by the Federal Parliament of Somalia. This marks an important step toward strengthening human rights in Somalia, including accountability and reinforcing legal and policy frameworks that protect the rights of all citizens, especially children.
Save the Children is committed to working collaboratively with national institutions to ensure that every child in Somalia is protected, educated, and empowered. We will explore opportunities for partnership with the Commission to drive systemic change for children’s rights.
