Our action strengthens the national child protection system at all levels—central, decentralized and community—to ensure a sustainable, integrated response that is adapted to both humanitarian and development contexts. To succeed, we deploy proven approaches such as Step to Protect for the systematic and rapid management of complex cases, Famille Épanouie to strengthen parenting skills and reduce risk factors, and Safe Back to School to secure school environments in conflict-affected areas.
Our expertise spans the strengthening of key actors: social services, community networks, defence and security forces, teachers and local structures. In 2024, we supported 13 provincial social services, 7 protection networks and 25 community cells, reaching more than 2,000 children affected by violence.
Save the Children also contributes to the development of normative frameworks (national strategies, operational guidelines, foster care standards, EAFGA, EAE). We support improvements to the national case management system, notably through CPIMS+/PRIMERO, thereby strengthening accountability and the quality of the response.
Our leadership also encompasses mental health and psychosocial support, with innovative approaches such as “I Support My Friends,” which mobilizes peer-to-peer solidarity in crisis contexts. Finally, we consolidate community and civil–military engagement to ensure a more protective environment for children in conflict areas.
