13 Jan 2026 Vietnam

On January 13th 2026, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, in collaboration with Save the Children, the Gia Lai Red Cross, and local authorities, launched a cash assistance programme to support families with children affected by Storm No. 13 and recent floods.

On the first day of implementation in Tuy Phuoc commune, Gia Lai province, 344 households received cash support of VND 3 million each. Beneficiaries are families who suffered losses due to the floods and have children under 18, ensuring assistance reaches those most vulnerable.

Beyond meeting immediate essential needs, the support also reflects the solidarity and care of the Government and people of Australia towards communities in Vietnam during difficult times.

Building on earlier emergency response efforts in Da Nang, this initiative helps families recover and stabilize their lives, especially as the Lunar New Year approaches.
