JORDAN: KHCF and Save the Children Jordan Sign MOU to Enhance Mental Health Support for Children with Cancer from Gaza

The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Save the Children Jordan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance mental health and psychosocial support services for children with cancer from Gaza who are receiving treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), as well as their caregivers.

Amman, 2 July 2026 - The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Save the Children Jordan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance mental health and psychosocial support services for children with cancer from Gaza who are receiving treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), as well as their caregivers.

The agreement was signed by Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, CEO of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, and Dana Erekat, CEO of Save the Children Jordan, in the presence of Ahmad Alhendawi, Regional Director of Save the Children International.

Under the agreement, the project aims to enhance mental health and psychosocial support services provided to 420 pediatric cancer patients from Gaza receiving treatment at KHCC, along with their caregivers. The initiative includes the design, implementation, and technical supervision of specialized programs over a six-month period, in addition to further training for a number of KHCC staff members.

Commenting on the agreement, Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish stated: "This agreement reflects our commitment to providing comprehensive care to cancer patients from Gaza and their caregivers by further integrating psychosocial support programs alongside medical treatment. These services will help them cope with the profound psychological challenges they have endured as a result of both the war on Gaza, as well as the cancer treatment journey."

For her part, Dana Erekat said: "This project is being implemented with support from Save the Children International's Humanitarian Fund. At Save the Children Jordan, mental health and psychosocial support are at the core of our child protection programs, guided by an integrated approach that invests in long-term recovery and strengthens resilience, particularly among children affected by crises and conflict, including children from Gaza."
