GAZA, 31 January 2026 – After recent air strikes in Gaza, Shurouq, Multimedia Manager Gaza, Save the Children, said:  

“As news emerges of yet more children being killed by Israeli forces in Gaza today, it feels like the beginning of another wave of deadly violence. 

"Over the last 24 hours, the intensity of the airstrikes have been the worst we’ve experienced since October. 

"As we wait for the Rafah crossing to open, we must keep our eyes on the human suffering which continues across Gaza and ensure that children do not continue to bear the greatest brunt of this relentless violence.”

After a year in captivity, he escaped and was reunited with his grandmother, Menaro*, 83, who had believed him dead. Children recruited into armed groups in DR Congo describe abduction, drugging and violence as call for greater action

New figures show at least 1,360 children were released from armed groups in the eastern province of Ituri in 2025. However, 13,000 children in the province remained in armed groups, meaning only about one in 10 children gained freedom last year.
