Save the Children deeply saddened by the death of Pope Francis

21 Apr 2025 Italy

Save the Children is deeply saddened by the death of Pope Francis, who tirelessly advocated for children and young people throughout his pontificate.

"Save the Children is deeply saddened by the death of Pope Francis, who tirelessly advocated for children and young people throughout his pontificate. We remember with gratitude how he urged world leaders to protect the millions of children who are affected by war, displacement, hunger, exploitation, and those denied access to education or healthcare.

"As conflicts unfolded across the world, Pope Francis was unwavering in his calls for humanitarian law to be respected, and for schools and hospitals to be protected amid the fighting. Save the Children is grateful for his passionate dedication to peace, as evidenced most recently in his Easter message, which called for an end to the war in Gaza and Ukraine. Our thoughts are with those of the Catholic faith across the world."

WE STAND SIDE BY SIDE WITH CHILDREN IN THE WORLD'S
TOUGHEST PLACES.
