PANAMA CITY, 4 July 2023 - Save the Children, with the support of the Inter American Press Association and the Gabo Foundation, has launched the second edition of its Journalism Award for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The award seeks to recognize and promote journalism that gives voice to children and adolescents in the region, placing in the public agenda their interests, situations, challenges and stories.

This second edition of the award is open to journalistic works that cover topics relating to the violation of the rights of children and adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean, and that were published in a media outlet in the region between November 21, 2022, and September 22, 2023. The award will be given to work that best amplifies the needs and voices of children and/or adolescents in radio, television, digital and print media.

The judging panel includes Will Grant, BBC correspondent in Latin America; Ginna Morelo, journalist and teacher of the Gabo Foundation; Mariana Belloso, journalist representing the Inter American Press Association; and Alejandra Meglioli, Director of Program Quality and Impact of Save the Children.

“We invite journalists working in the region to submit their work and to continue generating news that give a voice to children and adolescents, making their realities, dreams and demands visible. We hope this award motivates them to continue telling stories about children in our region”, said Monica Kuljich, Save the Children's Director of Communications and Media for Latin America and the Caribbean.
