Our Environment Is Our Lifeline - Naomi Momone, Climate Advocate

8 Jun 2026 Global

One daily truth we ignore is we treat the environment like WiFi. We only notice it when the network is slow or when it’s gone. But unlike WiFi, we can’t just reset the planet and try again.

Mother Nature has been nurturing and inspiring us every single day, nature is literally keeping us alive. Every breath you just took! Thank a tree. That water you drank this morning! Thank the rivers. We act like all of this is automatic because it’s just there, Until it isn’t. Then suddenly we start seeing the changes in our environment because we’re not separate from nature. We’re part of it.

When we hurt the environment, we hurt ourselves and the next generation.

The hardest part is most of the harm we cause today won’t hit us first. It’ll hit the next generation. The heatwaves, dirty water, and rising costs we face now were set in motion by people before us. Because they didn’t respond to the environment, we’re living with the consequences. But we can break that cycle. We can do better for those coming after us.

Through protecting our environment by planting and protecting trees instead of cutting them for charcoal, prevent plastic pollution and air pollution.

Fixing this doesn't mean we need millions of dollars. It starts with the choices we make in our own communities every single day.
And I know our country didn't cause global climate change, but we are the ones who have to survive it. We can heal our communities one tree and one action at a time.

When we protect nature, we aren't just saving the planet, we are saving our the next generation.
