6 Şubat 2023’te meydana gelen 7,7 ve 7,6 büyüklüğündeki depremlerin üzerinden üç yıl geçerken, afetten etkilenen bölgelerde çocuklar ve aileler için ihtiyaçlar devam ediyor. Depremler, 2,5 milyonu çocuk ve 1,7 milyonu mülteci olmak üzere toplam 9,1 milyon insanı doğrudan etkileyen büyük ölçekli bir insani krize yol açtı. 50 binden fazla insan yaşamını yitirdi, 2,7 milyon kişi yerinden edildi ve temel hizmetler aksadı.

Three Years After the February 6 Earthquakes: Continuing to Strengthen Recovery and Resilience for Children in Türkİye

As three years have passed since the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that struck on February 6, 2023, the needs of children and families in the affected regions continue. The earthquakes triggered a large-scale humanitarian crisis, directly affecting 9.1 million people, including 2.5 million children and 1.7 million refugees. More than 50,000 lives were lost, 2.7 million people were displaced, and essential services were severely disrupted.

AFAD ve Save the Children Türkiye iş birliğiyle geliştirilen eğitim programı kamuoyuna tanıtıldı.İstanbul, 2025Afet ve Acil Durum Yönetimi Başkanlığı (AFAD) ve Save the Children Türkiye iş birliğinde geliştirilen, erken yaş grubu (4–8 yaş) çocuklar için Türkiye’de ulusal düzeyde ilk olma niteliği taşıyan “İklim Farkındalığı, Afet ve Acil Durumlara Hazırlık Eğitim Programı”, 24 Aralık 2025 tarihinde resmi lansman etkinliğiyle kamuoyuna tanıtıldı. Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı (MEB) ile koordinasyon içinde yürütülen program, okul öncesi ve ilkokul çağındaki çocukların iklim değişikliği ve afetlere ilişkin farkındalıklarını artırmayı ve afetlere karşı daha dayanıklı bireyler olarak yetişmelerini amaçlıyor.

As Save the Children Türkiye, with the financial support of the European Union and in cooperation with Pikolo Association, we are launching a comprehensive support programme for Syrian families in Adıyaman whose need for assistance has increased following the impacts of the earthquake and the closure of temporary container settlements. The project aims to provide integrated solutions across cash assistance, child protection, and education, reaching more than 2,000 individuals in total.

Yeni yaşam koşulları onu içine kapanmasına neden oldu; sessizleşti ve çevresiyle bağ kurmakta zorlandı. Save the Children Türkiye desteğiyle Gökkuşağı Derneği ortaklığında yürütülen Psikososyal Destek (MHPSS) faaliyetlerine düzenli katılım gösteren Mert, zamanla kendine güvenini yeniden kazandı ve duygularını ifade etmeyi öğrendi.

A Step Toward Overcoming Bullying: Mert*’s Journey - Adıyaman, Türkiye

The earthquakes that struck on February 6, 2023, shook not only buildings but also emotions. In the aftermath, 12-year-old Mert* and his family relocated to a container settlement in Adıyaman. The new living conditions left Mert withdrawn, quiet, and struggling to connect with others. With support from Save the Children Türkiye and in partnership with Gökkuşağı Association, Mert began regularly attending Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities. Over time, he regained his self-confidence and learned to express his emotions.

With the holistic and child-centered support of Save the Children, Huma and her family have not only rebuilt their lives but also regained a sense of safety. Her story highlights the life-changing impact of inclusive humanitarian aid that recognizes and responds to the unique needs of every child.

HUMA*’NIN (10), ZORLUKLARI AŞAN HİKAYESİ - HATAY, TÜRKİYE

Hatay’da yaşayan doğuştan albinizmli olan 10 yaşındaki Huma* ve ailesi, 2023 yılında Türkiye’de meydana gelen yıkıcı depremlerin ardından birçok aile gibi hayatlarını yeniden kurmak için büyük zorluklar yaşadı. Huma görme engelinin getirdiği zorlukların yanı sıra, dış görünüşü nedeniyle sürekli olarak zorbalığa maruz kaldı. Tüm bu zorluklara rağmen, onun hikayesi güç, dayanıklılık ve kapsamlı bir insani yardım müdahalesinin dönüştürücü gücünü yansıtıyor. Save the Children’ın ihtiyaçlarına özel olarak sunduğu destekler sayesinde, Huma ve ailesi hayatlarında yeniden bir istikrar ve güven duygusu kazanabildi.

DEPREMLERDEN SONRA ÇOCUK KOMİTESİNDE GÜÇLENEN SESLER: LALE*'NİN (12) HİKAYESİ – GAZİANTEP, TÜRKİYE

Save the Children Türkiye, Lale*'nin (12) yaşadığı konteyner kente bir çocuk dostu alan ve sosyal merkez kurarak burada Ruh Sağlığı ve Psikososyal Destek (MHPSS) faaliyetleri yürüttü. Bu faaliyetler kapsamında Lale*, 6-17 yaş arasındaki çocukların haklarını öğrenmelerini, duygusal gelişimlerini desteklemeyi ve topluma katılımlarını teşvik etmeyi amaçlayan Çocuk Komitesi'ne katılıyor. Bu inisiyatif sayesinde çocuklar, güvenlik, duygular ve sorumluluklar hakkında eğlenceli ve interaktif etkinliklerle öğrenim görüyor. Ayrıca grup anlaşmaları oluşturarak ihtiyaçlarını dile getirme ve yaşam alanlarını iyileştirme önerilerinde bulunma fırsatı yakalıyorlar. Toplantılarda, kız ve erkek çocuklar, cinsiyetleri ve milliyetleri ötesinde, birer birey olarak potansiyellerini keşfedip eşit bir şekilde etkileşim kuruyorlar. Lale*, bu komite toplantılarında kendisi gibi olabilmenin güvenini yaşıyor ve ekonomik güçlenme talebini dile getiriyor. Bu adımlar, toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğini anlamaları için önemli bir temel oluşturuyor.

EMPOWERING VOICES IN THE CHILDREN’S COMMITTEE AFTER THE EARTHQUAKES, LALE*S(12) STORY– GAZIANTEP - TÜRKİYE

Save the Children Türkiye established a child friendly space and social center to the container city where Lale* (12) lives and has implemented MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) activities in the child-friendly space. As part of MHPSS activities, Lale* participates in the Children’s Committee, a program for children aged 6-17 that promotes awareness of their rights, emotional development, and community involvement. Through this initiative, children engage in fun, interactive activities to learn about safety, emotions, and responsibilities. They also contribute to creating group agreements, voice their needs, and suggest improvements for their living spaces. In the meetings girls and boys interacted with each other beyond their gender and nationality by recognizing their wholeness and potentials as equal individuals. Lale* feels encouraged to bring her authentic self to the committee meetings and to claim her economic empowerment which are both critical steps to promote the understanding of gender equality.
