New Deadline and Updates on the Application Process for the "Building Climate Resilience from Indigenous Perspectives" Project
After a further review of the process and considering the high level of interest, the Indigenous Steering Group (ISG) of the BCRIP Project has made important decisions regarding the application process, detailed below:
- Deadline Extension: The submission deadline for complete joint proposals has been extended to May 30.
- Registration Closure: Due to the high volume of interest in the BCRIP Call and the fact that many potential applicants do not meet the eligibility criteria, registration for new organizations from the South will close on April 2 at 11:59 PM.
Registration Process:
- Both Northern and Southern organizations must complete the eligibility self-assessment form (available in English | Español)
- Southern organizations that pass the eligibility assessment will automatically proceed to a Concept Note (CN) questionnaire, which must be completed by April 2 to be considered.
- Northern organizations that pass the eligibility assessment will be directed to a separate questionnaire to provide additional information about themselves.
Preselection Phase: Southern organizations that submit their Concept Note before the deadline will proceed to a preselection phase. Preselected organizations will be notified after April 20 and invited to prepare a complete joint proposal in partnership with Indigenous organizations from the North.
Matching Webinar: At the end of April, a matching webinar will be held to facilitate partnerships between the North and the South. Preselected organizations seeking partners will be invited to participate.
The submission deadline for complete joint proposals has been extended to May 30. Only one of the partners must submit the proposal (in English or Spanish) via email to bcrip.ipp4c@outlook.com before the deadline.
Proposals will be evaluated by the Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom Circle and the Indigenous Steering Group.
Selected projects will be notified in July 2025, with agreements finalized and projects set to begin between July and August 2025.

OPPORTUNITY
Building Climate Resilience from Indigenous Perspectives (BCRIP) is a four-year project (2024-2028) led by Indigenous groups and funded by Global Affairs Canada (through the Indigenous Peoples Partnering for Climate program).
BCRIP seeks to challenge traditional international development narratives by strengthening Indigenous knowledge systems and science. Additionally, it supports the individual and collective rights of Indigenous peoples, their autonomy, self-determination, and climate leadership. The project promotes joint advocacy, environmental governance strengthening, and knowledge exchange between Indigenous peoples in Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, and Peru and Indigenous peoples in Canada.
BCRIP is a partnership between:
- British Columbia Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN)
- Save the Children Canada’s National Reconciliation Program
- Save the Children in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Continental Network of Indigenous Women of the Americas (ECMIA SUR), through the National Organization of Andean and Amazonian Indigenous Women of Peru (ONAMIAP)
Funding and Project Scope
BCRIP will fund Nature-Based Solutions projects led by Indigenous peoples in Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, and Peru. Applicants must collaborate with Indigenous Peoples in Canada to submit proposals. Projects must address multiple cross-cutting themes, including:
- Indigenous-led climate action based on autonomy and self-determination
- Individual and collective rights
- Indigenous knowledge and science
- Gender equity
BCRIP aims to fund between 8 and 12 partnership projects, each lasting 12 to 24 months.
