Save the Children Tanzania is inviting proposals from qualified consultants or consulting firms to conduct a baseline assessment for its project on "Increasing Access to Improved School Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (SWASH) Facilities" in Zanzibar. This 18-month initiative, funded by the Big Heart Foundation, will focus on enhancing access to age-, disability-, and gender-appropriate SWASH facilities in 10 public primary schools across four districts in Zanzibar: Unguja (Kaskazini A and Kati) and Pemba (Micheweni and Mkoani). The project will also work to improve Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) practices and knowledge in the targeted schools.
The purpose of the baseline assessment is to evaluate the current availability, functionality, and accessibility of SWASH facilities and services, as well as to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to hygiene and MHM among students, teachers, and school management. The findings from this assessment will directly inform the design, implementation, and monitoring of project interventions, ensuring they are aligned with local needs and national standards.
We are seeking consultants with strong experience in conducting baseline assessments, particularly in the areas of SWASH and MHM, and experience working with children, including those with disabilities. The successful consultant will work closely with Save the Children Tanzania to provide actionable recommendations and produce a comprehensive report for the project.
Interested consultants should submit their proposals, including a technical and financial proposal, CVs, and relevant samples of previous work, by May 12, 2025, no later than 5:00 PM, via email to tenders@savethechildren.or.tz, with the subject line "SWASH Baseline Assessment Consultancy – Zanzibar."
