16 Feb 2026 Türkiye

As Save the Children Türkiye, with the financial support from MANGO and in collaboration with Mavi Kalem Association, we aim to strengthen access to education for children living in Esenyurt, enhance their well-being through child protection and psychosocial support services, and promote social cohesion.

Remedial Education and Educational Materials Support

Within the scope of the project, remedial classes and Turkish language courses are provided to children, including those from refugee households where Turkish is not spoken, in order to support their continued education, increase their participation in classroom activities, and enable them to communicate with their peers. The schooling experience is strengthened through the provision of educational materials and stationery kits, while school attendance is monitored on a regular basis. Through focus groups and individual interviews, children’s educational needs are identified and addressed with personalized support.

Child Protection and Psychosocial Support

The activities implemented enable the early identification of children at risk and ensure their referral to the child protection services they need. Psychosocial support and Problem Management Plus (PM+) counseling sessions provide safe spaces where children can express their emotions and build resilience.

Safe Family sessions and gender-based violence workshops strengthen the protective mechanisms surrounding children, while “I Support My Friends” workshops, children’s committees, and festivals create shared spaces where children come together, build relationships, and experience social cohesion.

Strengthening the Capacity of Teachers and Caregivers

The work is not limited to children alone; it also aims to actively involve the adults around them. Through the Resilient Teachers Program, teachers are supported in addressing children’s learning journeys and emotional needs from a more holistic perspective. Supportive activities for caregivers contribute to the creation of safe, inclusive, and sustainable environments for children. This approach fosters an ecosystem that strengthens all areas of support children encounter in their daily lives.

Creating a Safe and Inclusive Environment for Children

The project adopts a holistic approach that addresses both the academic development and emotional well-being of children living in Esenyurt. Services provided across a wide range of areas, from education and psychosocial support to protection and social cohesion, support children in taking confident steps toward a safe and hopeful future.
