On December 3rd, 2023, devastating floods and mudslides struck Hanang District in Manyara Region, leaving a profound impact on local communities. In response, Save the Children Tanzania, in partnership with RAPID Tanzania, secured a Start Fund Learning Grant to document lessons learned and promote community-led approaches to disaster preparedness and response.
The project titled “Strengthening Community-Led Preparedness and Response to Floods/Mudslides in Hanang District: Integrating Local Knowledge and Multi-Stakeholder Coordination” aims to analyze and elevate local and indigenous knowledge systems, explore the role of community structures, and examine coordination mechanisms during emergencies.
